My name is Brit, and I consider myself a lifetime learner and a storyteller. As a Baylor Interdisciplinary Core (BIC) student, my studies took an interdisciplinary approach to history, scriptures, rhetoric, sociology, philosophy, and social awareness. My Biblical Heritage course focused on creating a pluralistic society through interfaith cooperation, which is having people with fundamental differences and beliefs work together to achieve a mutual goal. My Capstone course focused on critically analyzing mythological stories, including Biblical texts and King Arthur stories, to find the underlying messages and to understand the contexts in which they were written.

Growing up in Texas and as a millennial-Gen Z cusp, my social and political mentalities have changed and evolved several times. I have a strong personality trait of speaking truth to power, navigating social situations, and mediating discussions on a range of “difficult” or “uncomfortable” topics; this is where I thrive. My natural energy and ability to empathize have made me both a friend to many and an activist to all.
When I first started this blog in my senior year of high school in 2016, I didn’t want to claim one political side for fear of ostracizing the other or taking on the negative labels that have grown in cynicism as the country’s two parties become more divided. I am an intersectional feminist informed by womanism, a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, a Black Lives Matter activist, and a proponent of all causes based on human equality and social justice.
I’m a young adult who has endured a long and harsh struggle to find my identity and voice. I have long dreaded the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Now that I have “grown up,” I still figure out my life daily. My dreams and talents have been scattered across disciplines, audiences, and vocations, but what has stayed consistent is my passion for social equity and using my voice for others.
The things you find here won’t always be politically charged, but I am not sugar-coating story pieces, and I will be honest with the parts of my life I’m posting here. I love academics, makeup, social activism, my family, dogs, friends, and communities. I am curious to see where this will lead and hopefully see more truth in writing in the future. I am excited to continue to evolve and learn during this life.
